Paris!

Meg and I spent a long weekend in Paris. We took a train from Kaiserslautern to Paris North and then navigated the "underground" system. It was a beautiful weekend seeing the sights. However, the highlights were a bike tour at night and Mass at Notre Dame Cathedral.

Trier...one more time!

Since I'm new to the blog scene...simplicity is the name of the game. I couldn't figure out how to edit the Trier "placeholder" that Meg established, so, I just created a new entry. Here goes...

Trier was our FIRST adventure, together (Meg, Schatzi, and I), in Germany. Trier is one of the oldest cities in Germany. It's smack, dab on the Rhine River. For the uninitiated...GREAT wine country. Trier also has much history as a Roman-inhabited city. Besides getting lost (I was the navigator), we had a great time having lunch on the piazzia (sp?), surveying the ruins (Porto Negro~the black door), ampitheater, and baths. The churches were absolutely amazing...we bought our first German birthday present at one of the churches.

Constantine's church -- home to Roman Emporer Constantine, is a very basic church, but very large (Right)

Trier Cathedral -- The Oldest Bishop's Church in Germany (Pictures below and to the right)

It's most precious relic is the Holy Robe, called the Tunic of Christ, an undivided seamless robe which is believed to be worn by Jesus himself.

Porta Negro was the most northern gate to the Roman Empire. -->

Not bad for a day trip...enjoy the pictures!

Ciao...

Strasbourg, a foray into France

Trier, our first adventure

And so we begin...

When Craig and I first arrived in Europe, we spent a few days searching for a second car. We had all but decided we were going to buy a new car from AAFES, when we decided to take a look at the base's Lemon Lot.

And there she was.....

Schatzi is a 2005 Mini S Cooper, who just had the look that she wanted to come home with us. (Or maybe that was me.) After contacting the seller, and arranging a test drive, I knew I'd be buying the car. (Even my boss, an avid car person, liked the car. So much so, in fact, that he was looking at the car as well. Although he told me it was okay to buy the car, he still chided me for weeks for stealing his car.)

And so it was, Schatzi came home with Craig and me, and became my new car.
